2017 Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson's Youth of the Year

2017 YOY Web Banner - YOY WINNER
"The Club is the place where I saw myself grow. It has been a place that inspired and motivated me to do well in every aspect of my life. It is my home away from home, which makes me feel safe and secure."

Diane Dizon
is a senior at Academies of Education and Empowerment at Carson High and has been a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson for four years. During her time at the Club she participated in Keystone, College Bound, Driver's Ed, Fitness Club, Building Bridges, Power Hour, UPS Road Code, and Professional Development. Next year, she hopes to attend a four year university and major in education. Diane is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson's Youth of the Year for the second year in a row. We are thrilled to have Diane represent the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson and wish her the best as she moves on to the next round.

Diane will move on to compete at the LA County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year event on April 5, 2017, at El Capitan Theatre.

Thank you to all the Youth of the Year Candidates from Carson High, King Drew, and Locke High School for all their efforts towards this event. From writing essays, giving speeches, and participating in the Q&A sessions, each Youth of the Year candidate did an outstanding job and made the staff and volunteers proud. We would also like to thank our mentors and judges for helping make this event possible.
