13 May STEM Academy Spotlight, Emilia

Academic Success programs are designed to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time and are college and career ready with a plan for the future.
Emilia cautiously walked through the Club doors for the first time at age six. Her first day was a little overwhelming, but now in eighth grade the Club is her second home. Emilia cannot decide which program she loves most -College Bound or STEM Academy. We can understand why.
In College Bound, she learns about the college application process, including applications, admission requirements and financial aid. Thanks to the College Bound Program, Emilia took her first steps on the campus of her dream school, UCLA, where she learned about their growing science program.
As a member of STEM Academy, Emilia has the opportunity to create solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues through the engineering and scientific process. Currently, Emilia is working on research for the Club’s 3rd Annual STEM Day where she will be exploring the effects of nutritional values on perceptions of unhealthy foods.
Both programs have shaped her decision to become a chemical engineer. When asked if she would continue to attend the Club at Carson High School, Emilia enthusiastically replied, “No doubt! There is no place I would rather go.”
