Carson, CA – [June 26, 2025] – Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson (BGCC) proudly celebrates
the 20th anniversary of its transformative leader, Kim Richards, who has served as Chief
Executive Officer since 2005. Over the past two decades, Richards guided the organization
through unprecedented growth, increased visibility, and life-changing outcomes for
thousands of youth and teens in the Carson, South Los Angeles, and greater South Bay
communities.
Under Richards’ visionary leadership, BGCC has expanded from a modest Clubhouse to
serving over 8,000 youth annually across 14 school sites and one main Clubhouse. Her
focus on equity, innovation, and collaboration has led to the development of high-impact
programming in areas such as STEM, social-emotional wellness, college and career
readiness, and leadership development. Richards was also instrumental in establishing
strong partnerships with local school districts, city leaders, and corporate partners,
helping to solidify BGCC’s role as a cornerstone of the community.
A recognized thought leader in the Boys & Girls Clubs movement, Richards serves on
numerous local, state, and national advisory councils and boards, including the Carson
Chamber of Commerce and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Professional
Association Board. She is a BGCA McCabe Fellow and the recipient of multiple national
Marketing and Communication Awards, reflecting her strategic and impactful approach to
brand building and resource development.

A Seattle native, Richards brought to Carson over 30 years of nonprofit experience,
including leadership roles at the American Red Cross, YMCA, and American Cancer
Society. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MBA from Western Washington University.
