We are proud to announce that Marathon Petroleum will be honored and inducted into the BGCC Hall of Fame at this year’s Blue Door Bash: Waves of Possibility on October 11 at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Their dedication and generosity have made a lasting impact on our youth and programs.
For decades, Marathon employees at the Los Angeles Refinery have embodied the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson’s mission to do whatever it takes for kids and families. As lead partner of the Club’s STEM program, Marathon has fueled opportunities for young people to explore STEM careers through hands-on engineering and construction projects, robotics and cybersecurity programs, math and science tutoring, and access to positive role models.
Marathon’s impact extends far beyond STEM, bringing holiday joy to the youngest Club members, mentorship and life skills to teens, and trusted leadership to the Club’s Board of Directors. When the COVID-19 pandemic widened income and opportunity gaps, Marathon’s Black Employee Network helped pivot the Club’s annual STEM Day into a virtual format, created a powerful Juneteenth program for middle and high school youth, and ensured the Carson Clubhouse remained open for full-day learning support.
“Marathon has been a steadfast supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson because this collaboration is a testament to our commitment to community development,” shared Luis Martinez, Operations Director for Marathon Petroleum and long-time Board Member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson. “Our investment goes beyond monetary value. It’s about investing our time, expertise, and resources to empower these young minds.”
Marathon Petroleum continues to demonstrate that investing in kids means investing in the workforce, communities, and leaders of tomorrow.
Please join us in celebrating Marathon Petroleum for their incredible contributions and unwavering commitment to our community.
