Emilia earns 1st place at STEM Day!

This year’s winners (from left to right), Emilia A. BGCC (1st Place) Isaiah C. BGCLAH (3rd Place), & Luna M. BGCLAH (2nd Place), pose for a photo with their trophies.

Emilia is a long time Club member. Since she walked through our doors in 1st grade, Emilia’s goal was simple—be respectful and read her books.

In sixth grade, Emilia started at a new school and with that came exciting new experiences. These experiences included STEM Academy where she had the opportunity to explore a variety of careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. She quickly became the model STEM student; winning STEM Star of the Month multiple times.

In her first STEM Day competition, Emilia placed third among 30 projects. The following year, Emilia earned fourth place. Instead of buckling under disappointment, Emilia used this as motivation to create a better project. Her dedication paid off. This year, Emilia took home first place!

This is only the beginning of her STEM career. As she advances, the knowledge and tenacity she gained while at the club will no doubt propel her further into her dreams of becoming a Chemical Engineer.

If you would like to help Emilia in her mission to become a Chemical Engineer and a pioneer in STEM consider donating or becoming a volunteer.

P.S. Check out the behind the scenes at STEM Day 2019!
